As the year is almost over, Steve has recently ordered brand new costumes ready for 2012. The old ones are quite adequate but a little tired looking now... so its off to ebay with them! In a recent auction we managed to get £77 for a replica of Freddie's white and red military suit from the mid 80's. The proceeds have been donated to our sponsored charity 'Papyrus'

Thursday 25th January saw the launch of a new channel 4 pilot for a series called The Convention Crasher, and featured The Great Pretender !!
The first challenge sees the cult C4 comedian Justin Lee Collins, off to a lookalike/impersonator convention in Florida. His mission, to convince all present that he is a Tom Jones impersonator.
In the weeks before he receives training from the Godfather of tribute, Trevor Chance, at his Blackpool Legend's show. Steve is seen to encourage Collins and is named as Justin's inspiration!
Hollywood here we come !!

'The Great Pretender' is the most authentic tribute to Freddie Mercury in the world!!!!
And now we can prove it!
The latest addition to Steve's transformation kit is a set of replica Freddie Mercury teeth.
These have been recreated from photographs of the great man, and fit over Steve's real teeth. The result is stunning.
Now Steve boasts not only the image, the energy, the voice, of Mr FM....but also the teeth!
Steve says.....
'They take some getting used to, but I'm becoming more confident with them and I've noticed that I'm actually starting to phrase and sing around them...in much the same way that Freddie had to...it all adds to the authenticity of the performance and helps me get into the role'
Mrs Bulsara attends Cancer fund raiser
A special guest took a keen interest in the charity tribute concert at the Underwood Miners Welfare in Notts on May 24th.
Jer Bulsara, Freddies mum!....came along to see The Great Pretender's unique tribute to her son for herself.
Steve was amazed to hear that Mrs Bulsara was in the audience, and was thrilled to be able to meet her after the show. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Steve who thanked John Barlow the show organiser for sending Mrs Bulsara the invitation. The show raised £1500 for Cancer research and was held in memory of Liz Barlow. John's late wife.
